What services does Clutter provide for moving and storage?

Clutter offers a full suite of services designed to better manage the inventory of your life, whether you're moving to a new home or just need to get organized. We provide an all-in-one solution for your moving, packing, storage, and donation/disposal needs.

Smart Storage

This service is the modern, convenient alternative to traditional self-storage. We handle everything from start to finish, so you never have to visit a storage unit yourself.

  • We Come to You: Our team of Specialists will arrive at your home equipped with everything needed to prepare your items.
  • Packing & Inventory: We will wrap and pack your items with care, then create a digital, photo-based catalog of everything for your online account. This allows you to see all your stored belongings from anywhere. We use high-quality moving blankets, plastic wrap, and specialty boxes to ensure your items are protected during transport and storage.
  • Secure Transportation: Your items will be transported to our secure warehouse facilities for safekeeping.
  • On-Demand Delivery: When you need an item back, simply log in to your account, select the item from your digital catalog, and schedule a delivery right to your door.

Moving Services

Clutter provides both local and long-distance moving services in select major cities. We offer a full-service experience that takes the stress out of your move.

  • Professional Movers: Our team of trained professionals can handle as little or as much as you need, from simply transporting your belongings to providing a full-service move that includes packing.
  • Packing Supplies: We offer packing kits with boxes, tape, and wrapping materials to make your move easier. If you need more on moving day, our team will have extra supplies on hand.
  • Furniture Care: We will disassemble basic furniture and protect all large or fragile items with moving blankets.
  • Long-Distance Moves: We currently offer long-distance moving services for specific routes, including Southern California to the tri-state area (NY, NJ, and Philadelphia regions), Southern California to the Bay Area, and Boston to the tri-state area.

Smart Storage Returns in Extended Areas

Smart Storage customers can schedule a return delivery to any location within the service area associated with the original pickup. Many of our service areas cover multiple counties and states.

If you are moving outside of our standard delivery area, we may offer alternative options:

  • Alternative Returns: Depending on your original service location, Clutter may offer to ship eligible items or allow for a Warehouse Pickup. You can see all available options by navigating to your online Account Portal and starting the return scheduling process.
  • Third-Party Movers: You can schedule a delivery of your items from storage to a third-party moving company at any address within our service area. Your third-party mover would then transport the items to your requested location outside of Clutter's area.
    • Note: Clutter does not load the third-party company's truck for liability reasons, nor do we partner with or cover the cost of third-party movers. You are free to choose any company you prefer and coordinate the transfer details with them.

Which Moving package is right for me?

Clutter's Local & Long-distance Moving service offers three packages to customize your quote and suit your current needs. For specific rates included with each package, please navigate to our website to start a quote! Keep in mind that regardless of the package you select, you will still have full access to our online Account Portal to manage billing, prepare for your upcoming appointment, and receive all day-of communication to track our team for their arrival!

 

Basic

  • Lowest cost option! You will pack & unpack and Clutter will move!
  • No packing assistance is provided from Clutter Movers for boxes, but we will assist in wrapping large furniture items
  • Disassembly and reassembly of furniture items is not included
  • The cost of the truck & transport of your items from Point A to Point B is included in the pricing provided

 

Packing Help 

  • Our best value & most popular option selected! You unpack and Clutter will move & pack!
  • Unlimited packing supplies and materials are included in this package for $249
  • In addition to packing assistance, Clutter can also dismount items off of walls such as TVs and artwork
  • Disassembly and reassembly of furniture items is included!
  • Unpacking assistance is not provided, but Clutter can stage items in certain rooms upon request

 

Full Service

  • The most luxurious package! We do everything!
  • Everything in the Packing Help package, plus unpacking assistance!!
  • A concierge service is available to help review order details and your Virtual Walkthrough submission
  • One additional stop along the route can be added 
  • Furniture and item disposal can be provided in this package

What if I need to change, reschedule, or cancel my appointment? What are the fees?

How to Change Your Appointment

To make any changes to your appointment, simply log in to your Clutter account and navigate to the Appointments tab. Select your upcoming appointment to view your options:

  • Reschedule or Cancel: You can select these buttons to change your appointment date or cancel the service entirely.
  • Modify Details: By selecting "View/Edit Details," you can update the appointment address, change the Day-of Contact information, or edit the item-based information for a pickup or return.

 

For Item-Based Changes (Adding or Removing Items)

The process for updating your pickup or return inventory depends on how close you are to your scheduled appointment:

  • More than 72 hours out: You can make changes yourself through the Account Portal. Select "View & Edit Details," then click the "Add/remove Items" button to update your inventory. Ensure you click “Save Changes” to update our system so our Live Operations team can prepare materials.
  • Less than 72 hours out: The portal will lock, and you will not be able to edit item details.
    • If it is only a change of a few items, it is typically okay to proceed without needing to modify the details in the system.
    • For larger or more complex inventory changes, you must contact our Customer Experience team by selecting the "Contact Us" button for further assistance.

 

Cancellation & Rescheduling Fees

To avoid incurring a penalty fee, you must cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled date and time.

Example: If your appointment is scheduled for Wednesday with a 9:00 AM arrival window, you must cancel or reschedule by Monday at 9:00 AM to avoid the $100 fee.

How can I estimate what size storage space I’ll need?

For a size estimate, begin the quote process. On the step asking “Select Storage Size” choose “Help Me Pick a Size”. From here, you’ll tell us more about what you plan to store and we’ll help you estimate the storage space that’s right for you!

 

If you choose the wrong plan size during the first appointment, Clutter will automatically upgrade or downsize your plan to suit the total amount of items stored. 

 

Prior to your first Smart Storage appointment, we highly recommend that you fill out the Virtual Walkthrough feature! This will allow you to upload photos or video of the items you plan on storing and a list of items. From there, our Live Operations team can review your submission to ensure that the appropriate plan size is selected. Often times, our system will automatically suggest if a larger size is needed based on anticipated items to store.

Pricing & Billing

Will my plan automatically be switched to a smaller size if I remove items?

Our smart pricing feature allows you to remove items from storage and pay for the space you use. Downsizing to a smaller sized plan is available to customers who qualify!

Click here to find out if you’re eligible for a new plan, with less size and more savings. When you downsize partway through your billing cycle, our system will credit any time already paid at your higher rate to discount your next bill.

Removing items from storage is easy, just login to your account and schedule a return appointment to remove items to help you qualify for a downsize.

When should I book my move?

Our website contains a live calendar of available dates for you to choose from. Availability books up fast, so we recommend booking as early as possible to lock in your ideal date! We can schedule moves with as little as a few days notice, subject to availability in your area.

If needed, you can always reschedule your reservation inside your online Account Portal to the next available date!
