What does Clutter’s Item Protection cover?

Our item protection covers most items, but not everything. A few items are not covered due to their fragile nature. You can still store the items listed below, but they will not be covered by our Limited Security Warranty Policy. Here’s what’s not included:

  • Composite wood, particleboard, or ready-to-assemble furniture
  • Missing hardware for items Clutter did not disassemble
  • Internal workings of all electronics
  • Previously damaged or repaired items
  • Items not packed by a Clutter professional mover (packed-by-owner)

Where will my items be stored?

Your items will be stored in a clean, secure storage facility in your area. Clutter facilities are a bit like an Amazon or Costco warehouse—organized, clean, and powered by technology. For the safety of all customers’ items, we don’t publish warehouse locations. We are happy to provide this if needed for your insurance.

Facilities are temperature controlled, to maintain comfortable working conditions for our staff. They are also pest controlled, and we do not accept items that show any signs of infestation to keep all items at the facility safe.

My property was damaged or lost

In the rare and unfortunate event your property was damaged, Clutter has you covered. 

To get started, file a claim online. It generally takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete. You will be guided through step-by-step and you can always save your progress to continue at a time that is more convenient for you. 

Once the claim has been filed through your Account Portal, the Clutter Trust & Safety Team will begin the claim review process. You will receive an email notification at the completion of the claim determination process. Typically, the claim process from start to claim determination takes 5 to 7 business days.

Item & Property Claim(s) Settlement-Payments

Clutter provides claim settlement-payments via PayPal or check. You will be able to select your payment method during the online claim settlement agreement process. Payment via PayPal takes approximately 5 business days, while checks can take up to 30 days.

Can I declare a value for my items being moved to and from storage?

Yes. In addition to Clutter’s item protection, we offer in-truck protection that will cover your items in case of any damage on the way to or from the warehouse. With in-truck protection, you will be able to declare the value of your items. Keep in mind that only a Clutter’s item protection will cover your items while in storage.
